Our meeting another family in town who speaks Spanish was a nice surprise during breakfast at Village Cafe, a.k.a. Maplewood Cookie. The mama knows a friend of ours, and her family grew up in Watsonville, CA. I spoke with the abuela about the '89 earthquake.
