On Loss and Loving

I find that the church and Catholicism reminds me of my mom, a sweet woman who worked much of her life in Catholic education. The pain of being separated from her must be relational to the way she was a rock in my life. A big part of who I am and maybe who I am still becoming, I am in debt to her. I describe her to my son as living in heaven. I'd like to think about her still being in my heart and forever with us in the impact she made in our lives. But for me and my brother it is a loss that we are still grappling with seven years later. I recently wrote a one-act play called seven years. In it, I express some of the in feelings I have of love and rage at the injustice.
