post-miami feelings of awe, amazement, wonder, love, and thanks

There are some changes I am truly grateful for in my life.

More than ever I feel profound thanks to my teachers and colleagues this year and for being part of a bunch of different school networks and friendships that inspire respect and learning.

Right now I am feeling love for and closeness with my sisters-in-law who I am in constant awe of. Good people with wonderful and sweet families who are often insulted, they rise above in an admirable way. I love that they have my back when I feel picked upon and give in a way to each other and their girlfriends that inspires solidarity.

I am amazed by the deep love I feel for the children of the family--A & A, V & S. I felt my heart crack open even wider to see them playing together in loving and brotherly/cousinly ways.

So many thanks to my family for the love and the lessons in wonder. I am now feeling more possibilities opening. Of course, my brother and my dad and mana are in my thoughts and all the extended California crew--I know it has been a hard year and hope that N and C are doing better.

Big love to my girlfriends everywhere--those of you in remote places and old familiar haunts.

I was heartbroken leaving today when my son asked if he could take the plane with me and a show of my faith and trust in my husband who will do my job and his for the next few days. I love my big boy who reportedly is happy there with his cousins. On the phone he said he was sliding and playing basketball, so it is a great thing that he is having so much fun.

Pages of construction paper were purchased today. The boy is already blazing through 2 pink ones in the first few minutes since we've been home. The people on his second are "us"--meaning daddy, mama and M holding hands.

Yes!

We did!

The Voting Experience

I went to vote with M on Tuesday. We made a couple of voting signs and then walked down. We were happy to get to the voting booth about 45 minutes later. I felt fantastic for once like I was doing something really important. M feels like he voted for Obama too!

We are thrilled that the dream came true after having our fingers crossed.
